Freo Beerfest 2016

G’day Brewers,

My name is Dan Turley, President of the W.A. Brewers Association (Waba). This year, together with BEST Events Co, we will be running Fremantle Beerfest 2016. This runs on Friday 11th – Sunday 13th November 2016. This is a fantastic 3 day Beer Festival in Freo, featuring over 40 local W.A. Craft Breweries – plus cideries, distilleries and heaps of great food. In its fourth year, Beerfest has grown to be a really great event – more good beer than even brewers and beer geeks like us can handle!

As part of the event, Waba will be running a stall serving beer form some W.A. Breweries that couldn’t make the festival. We will have a 4 tap bar, selling samples and middies.

Last year, The West Coast Brewers helped us out with volunteering to work on the stall throughout the festival. This was very much appreciated, as we are a not for profit organisation – any funds we make goes directly back into promoting / helping local Craft beer and breweries.

We are looking to run the bar again, and are hoping that we can work with WCB volunteers to help us out on the stall, as well as general set up and other duties across the weekend. Plus, it really helps to have brewers / beer lovers serving and talking to punters, they appreciate the knowledge.

In return for your help – we’d love to provide a 3 day weekend free pass to the event, which gives you entry anytime across Friday, Saturday or Sunday to enjoy the festival as thanks for working.

PLEASE NOTE: W.A. State Liquor Laws states that anyone serving alcohol requires a W.A. R.S.A certificate. These are done online - there are heaps of courses to choose from, starting from $18. For those that can pay for their own RSA's to help us out, that would be great - otherwise, we have no probs at all in covering costs.

Generally, we will need people for 4-6 hour shifts – but are flexible with timings. The more support we get, the better – it will really help out Waba.

Also, as per last year – Waba will make a cash donation to the West Coast Brewers Club as a thank you for their support.

If you’d like to share this with like-minded friends or family who may be interested, please feel free.

So for the actual event, work will involve a variety of duties. These are:

  1. WABA Stall
  2. Beerfest Merchandise stall
  3. General Beerfest help

1) Mostly, we will need people to man the WABA stall at Beerfest. This will involve pouring beers (samples and middies) for the punters. Also, depending on shift timing - some set up and pack up before and after each day.

2) This year, we look like we will be selling t-shirts from other W.A. Breweries from the Beerfest merchandise stall. This will only need 1 person at a time and shouldn't be too taxing.

3) General Beerfest help will just be helping out with set up - mostly on Thursday / Friday. This may be stuff like helping erect stalls / tents, signage, infrastructure, etc. James and Stacy are the guys that we partner with to organise Beerfest - they are really nice and easy to work with. They certainly appreciate the help!

Ideally, we want at least 2 people on WABA stall at any time - prob 3 in really busy times (2 serving - 1 changing kegs, etc).
