November club meeting and AGM

Brewers,

Thanks for coming down to DTC last week for the November club meeting.  Great to see everyone there. Some great beers, ciders and meads entered int he comp as well. I'm looking forward to the results next month.

Interesting things:

  • Thanks to Gary and Vicky for hosting Oktoberfest. By all accounts it was a great afternoon with a number of fantastic German beers and a giant spread of food. Clint asked me to mention to those that can't beat him at Mortal Kombat there will always be next year

  • The AABC was run in October. It was great to see so mnayt winners from WA and a strong representation from WCB. Well done to all those who made it a medalled in the nationals

  • We have the club Christmas function coming up on 16 December, 2pm at DTC.  More details and the signup page can be found here

  • We have meetings in December and January so pop that in your calendar

  • We also held the AGM

AGM

Presidents address

2017 was a busy year for West Coast Brewers. Some of the more memorable happenings included

  • Seeing a great number of new faces and an increase to overall member numbers. Monthly attendance is also up from previous years
  •  a big effort to increase comms to club members. Probably could do more here but it's going in the right direction
  • Updating the club rules in accordance with what we have to do to stay a not for profit association
  • Improvements to the competition website which was used for not only all the club functions but the WASABC and AABC as well
  • Autumnfest at Knobseys house
  • Dave hosting the club case swap
  • Gary and Vicky putting on Oktoberfest
  • Bottling and distributing the barrel beer
  • The well organised and smoothly run WASABC. Well done Carlin and all the volunteers that assisted in this time
  • Belgian comp with thanks to Brewmart for donating the yeast
  • Iron Brewer comp and Feral brew day. Thanks to Feral for that
  • Clone comp with Ron taking out first place in his first ever comp
  • The sour, mead and cider comp which we will find out winners next month

The club is in a pretty good financial position after the success of the WASABC and the AABC. These funds will be invested back into the club in the form of the events we run and some better infrastructure to help manage the club.

A big thank you to the outgoing committee: Allan, Andrew, Joel, Jason and Tim

Thanks to Carlin and Sean for their work on WASABC and AABC respectively
