September club meeting

G'day Brewers,

thanks for coming down to the September meeting and thanks again to DTC for hosting us. Well done on clearing out all the leftover competition beers. I've had a few of the ones I picked up and there have been some crackers (I won't talk about the not so cracking ones here...)

Things that happened

  • We were raucous in our applause for Carlin and his work in organising the WASABC. There were almost 500 entries this year with and the competition ran very smoothly.  Thanks, too, to all of the other guys that pitched in a supported Carlin in his work, especially Tim, Hilly, Dave and Andrew

  • The WASABC awards night in on Wednesday 20th at Bobs.  Doors open at 6:30 with the presentations on from 7:30. Get on down. If you are getting a medal you should have already received an email

  • AABC is coming up on the weekend of October 14. Sean is looking for some volunteers so contact him if you are able to help out.  It's a great opportunity to learn more about beer and help out the national comp.  Also make WA look great compared to the rest of the country

  • Our next club function is Oktoberfest to be held on the arvo of Saturday 28th October at Gary's place. The club will supply meats for this and we ask that everyone coming brings a plate / salad whatever to go with it.  A sign up page will be up shortly.  This is a family event so bring the kids. There is plenty of room out the back for the little ones to run about. Bring down your German beers. I'm pretty sure Gary will have some room for kegs

  • Andrew gave out the winners for the little creatures clone competition. This was Ron's first comp for the club and great to see him do well

    • People's choice: Allan Aitken

    • BJCP / close to LCPA 3rd: Michael and Alistair

    • BJCP / close to LCPA 2nd: Jason Marais

    • BJCP / close to LCPA 1st: Ron Deval

  • November is the mead, cider and sours competition. Plenty of time to get some brews (and ciders or meads) down. Erosion Meadery has offered to sponsor the comp with awesome mead related prizes

  • Simon showed us all about his iSpindel.  Fantastic little thing.  Contact him if you're interested in learning more

  • November will also be the club AGM. All committee positions are up for nominations. If you are keen on putting something back into the club and becoming more involved this is your opportunity. Feel free to drop me a line if you are interested in anything and I, or any other committee members, can give you a few details

  • Our Christmas function is planned for the arvo / evening of December 16. More details to come
