January Club Meeting

Brewers,

Welcome back for 2018 and thanks to those who made it to DTC last night for our first club meeting of the year. A big thanks to everyone for helping to clean up after the meeting and generally respecting our hosts.

Things of note

  • The first competition of the year will be held in March with peoples choice at the March club meeting (13th March) and BJCP shortly there after.  This is an IPA competition with the allowable styles as follows. Andrew will update details closer to the time

    • 12C. English IPA

    • 21.IPA

    • 21A. American IPA

    • 21B. Specialty IPA

    • Specialty IPA: Belgian IPA

    • Specialty IPA: Black IPA

    • Specialty IPA: Brown IPA

    • Specialty IPA: Red IPA

    • Specialty IPA: Rye IPA

    • Specialty IPA: White IPA

    • 22A. Double IPA

  • The club will be holding Autumnfest again this year and the proposed date is March 24th. This never fails to deliver as one of the highlights of the year giving members the chance to catch up over what is always a great line up of beers. This year’s Autumnfest will be again held at Knobseys place in Hilbert, which is just off Tonkin Hwy or a 10 minute cab ride from Armadale train station (there is a taxi rank at Armadale station so Taxis are no problem). He has a large block with plenty of play area for kids and a pool however we will give Knobsey the day off lifeguard duty so you will need to make sure you keep an eye on your little ones, for the adults he has a killer bar area and plenty of room to relax. Everyone is encouraged to bring along some of their finest brews, we will have access to a cool room with 6 taps and also extra eski’s with picnic taps so everyone’s beers/kegs can get a pour on the day. Members are welcome to bring their partners and family’s along for the day and while this is a day of drinking and food everyone is always extremely well behaved and very respectable. The club will be providing lunch for everyone and just ask that everyone brings a side dish to accompany, we will also have water and soft drink available on the day. Look out for the sign up page to register

  • WASABC looks to be held in the second week of September so pop that in your diaries and start prepping those big beers

  • A reminder that running the club and events such as WASABC does rely on volunteers to make it successful. In any club such as WCB there are always a few people that always put up their hands to help out and we owe them all a lot for keeping things going. I'd like to see more people get involved in 2018, be it stewarding, judging, learning to judge, organising comps and so on.  Feel free to put yourself forward if you have the time to help out.

Thanks everyone see you next time

Ed
